Male Maids Remove More than Just Stains
HOUSTON - Who says a cleaning lady has to be female? A Sugar Land entrepreneur figured, why not let men take a crack
at it? And so Jockstrap Maid Service was born. The service advertises jockstrap-clad men who clean homes in 29
cities across the US.
Owner Max McCammond has run a "traditional" maid service for almost a decade. He
said he came up with the idea for Jockstrap Maid Service in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, which turned his Sugar Land home
into "party central" for his power-deprived pals.
"We had electricity and somebody was there and
they said, 'Why can't you send a good-looking man to clean my house? Maybe in a jockstrap?'"
It
was the seed of an idea that ultimately flowered in Eilene Murphree's kitchen.
Murphree sipped red wine while
Austin Woods, clad only in an electric-yellow jock strap, dusted her ornamental pumpkins.
"I cannot wait to
share this with my girlfriends; this is gonna be too much fun!" said Murphree.
As for Woods, he enjoys the
job's flexible hours and generous compensation. And he said he doesn't mind being ogled while he scrubs.
"It's worth it to me to sit here and clean, while somebody else can enjoy the view," he said.
